Lois and Claudia, Thank you both for responding to my query. It looks as if we all are descendants of Ludwig Lange. Both Jacob Leinweber and Henrich Christian Ludwig Lange were my great great great grandfathers. I'll try to explain the relationship below.

Since I don't have any information entered into any genealogy program and my information is not well organized, it took some time for me to put together the various pieces so that they seem to make sense when you read them.

My sources of information are notes written by one of my grandfather's brothers about 1950 and the Kerr County Album published by the Kerr County Historical Society and covering the years 1836 - 1986. I also have copies of the first IV chapters of a book called THE LEINWEBER FAMILY, The History of August Leinweber and His Descendants. I'm sure this book is copyrighted. I am not sure who wrote the book since I have no title page information but I would like to be able to find a copy of the book. The author apparently was from the Hondo area and may have been Erna Leinweber.

August Leinweber was one of Jacob Leinweber's sons. I have not verified this information although I do plan to try to do so. I have verified the information about my grandfather. I can make copies of the information I have if you'd like. My information seems to match the dates on your web site.

Henrich Christian Ludwig Lange was b. December 12, 1808 in Hanover, Germany. and d. died in 1886 in Kerr County, Texas. He, his wife Johanna Streur Lange (1806 - 1872) and their six children came to America from Gruggen, Germany, which was in the kingdom of Hanover. According to one source, they came to America on the ship Magnet, an open vessel, and landed at Indianola, Texas, in April 1851. The family went to San Antonio and then to Verde Creek. Another source says that they moved to Verde Creek from San Antonio in 1846. I believe that one of their daughters was Leutwine Lange, who married John Leinweber. Her brother, Henry Lange, married John's sister Katherine/Katarina Leinweber. Your Lange web site shows Henry and Katherine as the parents of Robert Jonathan Lange and two other children. The Kerr County Album shows them as parents of Robert J. Lange and other children so I believe this is the same couple.

Jacob Leinweber was born in the latter part of the 1700's in the German state of Hess-Darmstadt. He married Katherine Hauser in 1819. They and their six children left Germany and immigrated to Texas in the mid 1840's. Jacob died before they reached the Castroville area. His widow and children settled at Vandenberg on Verde Creek. Their children were August (1821), John (1825), George (1828), Hanna (1834), Elizabeth (1840), and Katherine (1842).

Jacob's son John later moved to Kerr County where he met Leutwina/Loutwina/Leutwine Lange. John and Leutwine were married in 1860 and settled at Camp Verde. He was killed in an accident in 1870. Leutwine and John had five children. After his death, she married Fred Klein and had six more children.

The oldest child of John Leinweber and Leutwine Lange Leinweber was Louis August Leinweber (1860 - 1931) who married Francis Sims. Their third child, John August Leinweber, was my grandfather.

I noticed that you show an Ema Ludwine Patton as a daughter of Augusta Lange and Benjamin Patton on your web site. I believe your Augusta was a sister of my Leutwine, daughter of Henrich Christian Ludwig Lange.

I know that Indianola was not an original port of entry and that the Lange family must have entered through another port. Since New Orleans or Galveston seem to be reasonable original ports of entry, I am hoping to discover the original port of entry.

I am happy to share my information with you. Please do not post any information about me on your web site. I would not have a problem with your posting information about most members of my family who have passed away, but do not want any information about my immediate family posted.

Lois, I see that I made at least one mistake when I entered the information for you. I said that Heinrich Christian Ludwig Lange was married to Johanna Streur Lange. Ludwig was married to Johanna Streur and Heinrich Christian Ludwig Lange was their son.

I have now seen several spellings for Johanne (Ludwig's wife). Some of these include Streuer, Streur, Strur, etc. Guess that is one thing that needs to be nailed down for sure before I can press ahead with any overseas research. I will continue to look for her name in original docs.

VERDE VALLEY CEMETERY The Verde Valley Cemetery is located on the ranch of the same name which is between Camp Verde and Center Point. The cemetery is fenced to keep cattle out. From "Cemeteries of Kerr County, Texas, 1859-1975" published by Kerrville Genealogical Society in 1980. Field notes were done by Arlene and Fred Tolman who copied the stones and provided that data to the Kerrville Genealogical Society for publication.

CENTER POINT CEMETERY (Ho - Q) From Kerrville, take SH 27 south to Center Point (about 10 miles) and turn right. Follow San Antonio Street until you see FM 480 to Camp Verde. The Cemetery is in this corner on the right. From "Cemeteries of Kerr County, Texas, 1859-1976" published by Kerrville Genealogical Society in 1980. Field notes were done by Arlene and Fred Tolman who copied the stones in the cemetery and provided that data to the Kerrville Genealogical Society for publication.
